Bed & Breakfast Braunsteiner in Böheimkirchen

A bed & breakfast with history

Today's Bed & Breakfast Braunsteiner is located in a house that was built in 1925 by my grandfather Robert Fink. He was a master chimney sweep and built exclusively with natural materials. He was able to procure these more easily as he was able to procure these more easily as he came to many households and therefore knew who could possibly sell or exchange which building materials. My grandfather was also a master carpenter, which is particularly noticeable on the upper floor, the balconies and the roof extension. The original purpose of the house was to provide comfortable accommodation for some of the staff required at the time. As the house was modelled on a typical chalet in Switzerland, it was henceforth known as the "Schweizerhaus" ("Swiss house").

Holiday apartment 1 was the home of the chimney sweep apprentice and later master chimney sweep. The maid of the house lived in holiday apartment 2. Later, both were married to each other. Holiday apartment 3 Flat 3 consisted of two separate rooms: the laundry room and the so-called apprentice's room. The laundry room was used for washing clothes and also by the master chimney sweep himself. The apprentice's room was the bedroom for the respective chimney sweep apprentice. Today's shared kitchen housed the supplies of tools and firewood.

Other rooms were used as a chicken coop and a dog kennel. My great-grandfather bred German Longhair dogs for hunting, with which he was able to win one or two first places in hunting dog trials. The former chicken coop and dog kennel are now used as a bicycle garage and craft room.

In 2004 and 2005, it was finally refurbished as a bed & breakfast.
